I thought it was bens dad, ... who ever he was, really nice guy, bought me a coke (top man .. i'll get the next ones ) But gravesend is definatly in need of some sort of venue that can encourage younger guys and girls to rediscover music, becuase in my opinion, local bands are not getting enough exposure and its a shame, i want to be in band but theres just not the sort of people around... (trad jazz band / dixieland or at least a good jazz combo / quartet lol) sure theres older folks but we need young peeps getting into it again... So what im saying is, music is getting lost, music to me seems to be that stuff that people download on limewire because we can, even though we're not supposed to ... (fuck you RIAA ) .. Music needs to be what it was for me about 6 or 7 years ago, something that people can really appreciate and be able to join in with others without feeling paranoid or feel like your walking into closed doors and not getting a chance to do what you need.... I wonder if theres anyway we can talk to councils about money being raised by the people who want to use it, us! and then getting the support from councils or some form of grant in order to work on getting a venue, i know i'd love to create the charity that would try to get people to revamp the place. I've gone on a bit and not made much sence.... I guess my point is.... We definatly need a venue, and i'd love to do what i can to help, im sure there are grants availible for this sort of thing.

gravesham council won't give fuck all towards arts n performance, they go n waste their budget on a bleedin town pier instead (which ironically then falls completely behind schedule and they remove half of their funding for it, hence it not gettin no where now) we shouldn't have to rely on the red lion for gigs around here, coz it's not the easiest place to get to for starters, but then, wackin a venue in the centre of gravesend is gonna cause trouble with the prats of this town, who tend to hang outside macdonalds all the time. so i dont know how they would resolve these things.
your right about how music changes, ppl just buy a cd or download a song whatever and leave it as that, real music is seeing live bands perform. bands make more money from gigs/tours than from selling cds/merch. fact.

It was Jacks dad Dave who came up with that idea...but then again...our dads also came up with the idea of riding there harley davidsons across america once when they were drunk But we do need a music venue, that one would be perfect, and there are other ways round funding, we wouldnt have the problems we do if there was more of a police presence in the town centre around the venue, or if there was an outside security team who cater for proper concerts, not like the staff at most council run events where they dont understand what a most pit is... Woodvilles being closed is a bummer, if only an outside promoter could get interested, it is a perfectly placed venue because of how close it is to the station...just like the old cinema's...maybe we should get in touch with some entrepener...speltwrong...type people and outside promoters to come in and help us, Gravesend used to have a great music scene before our time and alot of bigtime names used to come through here...what happened?

Dartford used to be the same. but all u have left now really is the mjc which does gigs twice per season. and there are like 2 seasons per year. and they dont believe in moshing. however a few pubs in the area have caught on to rock gigs, such as the oasthouse and the bull and vic. pubs are no place for mosh pits tho. not those sorts of pubs with not much standing area. We need to find a venue which is suitable for all the needs of the local (cool) teenagers and young adults. hell even for the older rockers. but a rock venue, thats purely for rock. there are plenty of pikey clubs, why cant there be more rock venues? its because of the pikies that a lot of the venues for gigs, in dartford especially, were closed down, because pikies used to start massive fights outside the gigs afterwards. it happened a few times at the mjc, and particularly with the old collective gigs. as there are more and more alternative people, there are less and less places to go to gigs. doesnt make sense really. the money lies in local rock gigs.
